Why do I have to be assessed?

assessment tests accurately determine your english and mathematics skill level. good english listening, writing and reading comprehension skills are important to succeed at centennial college. for some programs, you also need basic math or science skills to succeed. by testing your college readiness, we can give you advice on how you can pursue your post-secondary goals, and we can tailor your timetable to promote success in your studies at centennial college.

When should I book my assessment?

澳门基尼斯人if you are writing an assessment to meet outstanding admission requirements, we recommend you book your assessment as soon as you receive a notification from enrolment services.

if you are writing an assessment to determine the communications or math course you will be placed in at the start of your program, we recommend you book your assessment as soon as you confirm your offer with centennial college.

How will the college use my assessment results?

澳门基尼斯人your skills assessment results will be used in several ways:

  • For admissions consideration (if admissions have not been offered).
  • To find out if you need an upgrading program, such as a Foundations program or an English upgrading program, before you enter a regular post-secondary program.
  • To identify the appropriate language and/or math course that matches your current skill level.

Is there a fee for the assessment?

In-person admissions skills assessments $60.00
Online admissions skills assessments $90.00

How long will the assessments take?

The length of the test depends on the type of test. Ask for details when you are booking your assessment or call (416) 289 5000, ext. 2598 to find your assessment on the Assessment Formats page.

How can I prepare for the assessments?

No specific preparation is required because the skills the assessments are testing are ones that you have acquired through your previous education or employment experiences. However, if you require guidelines and refresher material, you are welcome to access our Study Materials.

When will my results become available?

communications and math results will be available immediately after the skills assessment. for the communications skills assessment, you may have to wait two business days before learning their results. for career and college transition and english for academic purpose assessments, you will have to wait up to one week for results.

What if I require accommodation while writing my exam?

If you are a student with a documented disability and need exam accommodation, please contact the Centre for Students with Disabilities by calling 416-289-5000, ext. 2627 before booking your skills assessment with us.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my test?

澳门基尼斯人we understand if you are not able to write your exam on the date you have booked with us. however, because space is limited, please try your best to notify us 3-5 days in advance so we can offer the free spot to another candidate.

What do I need to bring for the assessments?

The most important item you need to bring with you is acceptable photo ID澳门基尼斯人. Other items you are also allowed to bring with you are a letter sent to you from Centennial College, a bottle of water and a pair of headphones if you are writing the Language skills assessment.

澳门基尼斯人please do not bring your own stationery, writing utensils, dictionary or calculator. we will provide you with everything you need for the assessment. do not bring any valuables, as the assessment centre is not responsible for your belongings or personal items.

underage children can’t be left unattended on college property. please make child care arrangements before attending a skills assessment. there are no exceptions to this rule.

What is acceptable photo ID?

澳门基尼斯人acceptable photo id has a current photo and isn’t older than 10 years. it can include one of the following: a passport (canadian or foreign), driver’s license, provincial photo id card, proof of citizenship card, permanent residence card, or a centennial college student photo id.

If you do not have any of the above ID, you may provide non-government issued photo ID (such as other school photo ID, transit photo ID, or employment ID) along with either your birth certification or social insurance card.

Students arriving without proper photo ID will not be allowed to write their skills assessment and will be asked to rebook their tests.

What is the parking policy when I arrive to write my assessment?

Progress Campus

澳门基尼斯人visitor pay and display parking is available in lot #3 south and lot #6 south, near the athletic and wellness centre.

visitor parking is also available in lot #2, lot #3 north, lot #6 north and lot #7. you can pay for parking with a credit card at the exit gate. you can also pay with cash, debit or credit card payment at pay on foot terminals located in the a block second floor main entrance by the bridge, the l block first floor main (west) entrance and the student centre main (north) entrance.

Ashtonbee Campus

澳门基尼斯人short term parking is available in the south end of the student parking lot off of ashtonbee road. please remember to purchase and display a valid pay-and-display ticket if you plan to park in the short-term lot.

Short term parking is available on the south-east end of the campus, immediately inside the entry driveway.
